Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out your intake forms. You may also print and fill them out beforehand, if you prefer.

Your RMT will conduct a brief health history, verbal consultation and physical assessment to gain an understanding of your condition and your reasons for seeking massage therapy. This may take up to 15min to complete and is included in your total treatment time. This initial assessment is required for all new patients as per our professional guidelines. If possible, please wear loose fitting or stretchy clothing to your appointment to aid with the physical assessment.

Treatment may include a variety of techniques within the RMT’s scope of practice. If you have had massage therapy in the past, let your RMT know what techniques were effective/not effective or what you enjoyed/didn’t enjoy. We are here to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience so please don’t hesitate to voice any concerns or personal preferences. Your RMT will check in throughout the treatment to ensure you are still comfortable.

After the treatment is over and you are dressed, your RMT will discuss any aftercare they feel is necessary to compliment your treatment. This may include stretching, strengthening exercises, application of heat or cold, modification of daily activities, referral to other health professionals, discussion of further treatment and the development of an ongoing treatment plan.

Please shower/bathe on the day of your appointment.

Please avoid wearing heavily scented products on the day of your appointment, due to sensitivities of our staff and other patients.

Please turn off all cell phones and electronic devices while in treatment. Look at your treatment time as an opportunity to unplug and escape from the constant digital stimulation we experience in our modern world.

We do not consider work conflicts to be emergencies. If you do have an emergency or are sick, please let us know so that we can treat your specific situation with personal attention. This cancellation policy is necessary for our small business to continue to serve our clients in need of treatment. Thank you for your understanding.

Massage FAQ

While some techniques may produce more uncomfortable sensations than others, it is never our intention to cause pain. No matter a person’s own preferences or pain tolerance, we want your treatment to feel good. This is why your RMT will be sure to check in with you throughout the treatment to ensure the techniques are feeling effective and not causing discomfort. Some people describe mild discomfort during massage as a “good pain”, but that does not mean that it is necessary to cause discomfort to achieve positive results. Great results can still be achieved through a gentle, conservative treatment.

While many techniques are most effective when applied directly to the skin, having a clothed treatment is always an option if you are uncomfortable with disrobing. Your RMT can modify to accommodate you however you are most comfortable. Only the area that is currently being worked on will be uncovered during treatment, otherwise you will be fully covered by a sheet and a blanket at all times.
